We have a few AZ'ers with some ailments(for lack of a better term) who are hoping to be in good form for ski season, lets say we forget the tabloid forum posting of the day and check in on our friends in recovery mode.

Grassi - Hows that broken Butt?
Warp Daddy - Unlike the tinman, you have a huge heart, which needed some attention, you got that on track?

Severine - you musta skipped the Scare crow theme and went for the brains, How's your school work treating you? Hope you can get out and enjoy time with that husband of yours on the slopes a bit this season. Your knee healing well?

Anyone else on the recovery list?

Speak up and tell us how you're doing coming into ski season!!!

Well, let's see...I'm still working on my left shoulder from a year and a half ago from a pretty serious fall. Been doing PT and actually had an MRI done on it this year and they said there is still a small tear in a ligament and some inflammation in the bursa(sp) sac around the shoulder, as well as some bone spur. They said I have some options. The Doc said I could take a cortisone shot to see if that helps the inflammation to calm it down so it can heal, but if that doesn't work then they need to go in to see what they can do for it. I'm going for a second opinion before I do anything.

Then I was picking up the grandkid this summer and pulled my back out, that put me out of commission for a while. I still get a pinch every now and then to remind me. I've been working out on and off, but not consistent enough to make a difference. I' hoping this fall I can concentrate better. Something always seems to come up.

No problems. Hopefully nothing major during the remainder of MTB season. I have to ramp up the riding if I want to go into this ski season in the shape I was in last season though.

thanks for the continued concern for my ass trek. i have one week left in my 6 week recovery. i was tempted to ride this week with the boys at tyler mill. but i figured ski season is too important to rush back to the bike. i want to get a couple of road rides in on the ss before i hit the mtb.

good thing about ski season is i do most of my falling head or shoulder first. at least i'm not in the back seat. :)

TC : You are a real friend thanks for your concern i am doing really well and have been given the green light to ski and today was another HUGE day for me in this path to full recovery .

I was given the green light to start using my arms again !! After open heart surgery they will not let you lift anything heavier than a milk cartonfor TWO months , Well today i used 6 diff machines that work the arms during my hr long gym workout -- I'm psyched !!!

Course don't tell ANYONE BUT -----I';ve been hitting golf shots in my backyard for a month now :D:D:D

Thanks for asking i'm pumped up to ski this season --I'll be slower this season BUT I'm ALIVE feeling really good , 35 lbs lighter and way mellow :D

Like Tom Brady getting listed with an injured shoulder every week, I enter each season with questionable knees. Old soccer/skating/skiing-related injuries that I never bothered to get looked at. So, every start of the season, I knock on wood and give the snow gods a wink.:)

Good to go for now. Just need to get back to the gym; but that'll be easier as the days get cooler and shorter.

My wife is back at work 6 weeks post op after her ACL repair. She should be good to for the start of the season. She'll probably have to take it easy, but she's very excited to hit the slopes again.

Going to ski without my knee brace this year. The repaired knee feels better than my "good" knee.

My knees are feeling good and Mrs Root is about 85% of where she was prior to the accident in March. No more PT for now, the doc wants her to focus on rebuilding muscle lost while she was so inactive. It's good to see her go to the gym and set up the weight machines on her own.

I asked her if she felt she was going to be ok to ski this season and she told me she's not ready to give it up. I can't wait to get some turns with her again!!!

In relatively injury free state at the moment. Just the occasional MTB induced bumps and bruises and the standard wear and tear from the good 'ol aging process :smash: But all in all in good shape

Glad to hear she's coming around !! Her attitude and your support will be a huge motivator .

Brain injury/Head trauma/high drama in July.

I'll be back, I may be a tad more careful, but I'm game for all terrain. Already doing ladders, so balance is back. Need to restart on stamina and strength, very slowly...

I'm working on recovering from being a fat tub last ski season and being able to stay out there and ski trees and stuff. Been runnin since early June, and doing core and leg exercises. Lost about 25 lbs so far.

Did I miss something? This sounds like something serious. :(
