my experience is that they totally blow in spring conditions unless you're actually skiing bumps. they have a tendency to get hung up in the slop making it very easy to catch edges and the such.

or maybe i just suck.

That is a valid question. Bump skis work well in the zipper lines, but a little width really helps.

When there are spring conditions, I'm skiing bumps. So no, bump skis don't suck in the bumps... :???:

They get tossed around a bit and catch edges a lot. Not really sure how this compares to other skis.

Once it gets soft and mushy, I like the lift of a wide shovel and support from a wider ski. My avitar is on a pair of Salomon Scream Limiteds, 80 mm underfoot, and my new love is K2 PE's at 85mm. I've had my 100mm Chiefs in the bumps too, but that's a workout swinging all that lumber around.

Do bump skis suck in the soft wet snow?
When i went to sugarbush (THE KING OF SPRING) last year for the last weekend i saw the killington bump skiers just about all skiing mid-fat twins and they were just slaying it.

They pretty much suck no matter what type of snow you're on :flame:

you could ski spring conditions on skinny bump skis or narrow waist carving skis.

while it's the skier, not the skis, having a more adept tool for the job like fatter skis to bust through the variable crud could make your day easier and more enjoyable....if less satisfying.
