Ice Cube - Today was a good day

I could quote the lyrics word for word, but I don't know how Greg would like that.

Thanks W. I thought it was Cube but wasn't sure if he was quoting someone. I know the whole line.

You were up there? I'll believe first hand info from this group for sure. However, you're sort of confirming what I said....the majority of the depth is 12 inches. What I saw in the pics and vids were the post holes which weren't even 6 inches deep (and you can be damn sure you're going to posthole snow that wet to the ground) and the drains were still fully showing. I damn sure wasn't seeing any whales.

Max efficiency at approximated air temp*hours of operation/π*b.s. factor of .99 for this poster gives us the inarguable base depth of 17-21 inches. By using this equation it also enables one to figure the swactor, or whactor. otherwise known as the whale factor. While it can be debated whether or not there were whales or swales, what is inarguable is the presence of some larger mounds of snow followed intermittently by smaller amounts of snow.

translated, this means the dude got to ski yesterday and you are arguing inches.

and there are some jokes in there that I'll just let go.

No, I'm asking where the whales are. The whales were the B.S. factor.

Actually, this question was asked when someone posted a report of HUGE whales at K, which was then retracted, and now we're down to icy blades of grass and a confirmed 6 inches or less from post holes. This is why I avoid K zone!

Sounds like something out of the National Enquirer.

Reports of HUGE whales at k were proven by snowman to nothing more than smaller mounds of snow. Village of killington relieved at the news as the town folk could return to their homes without worry of the gargantuan sea mammals.

You simply can't stand that my "Nov 17th opening dates aren't looking so hot already" thread that I posted 2 weeks ago is now looking to be much more a thing of reality.

Wow I guess the fact that there will be skiing on 10-31-07 really puts a whole in your facts......

Does opening for one day and then closing for, most likely, over a week count as 'opening'?

First of all I would expect nothing less from Boyne. They tend to be a class act.

Second,.............
Is this official?
It appears that they are open for halloween, encouraging costumes, but the official opening day is November 9th...........so, does this count for the first to open pole?

i personally don't think it should count, but didnt want to be a pessimist (sp.?). I think its awesome that they are opening for a day, but I thought in years past it was the ski resort that first opened with the intention of being open every day after that. Opening and closing for a day is not open for 2007-2008 operations. But don't get me wrong, kudos to them and if I was within driving distance I'd be there!

Couldn't have said it better and at the very least, it may give other resorts incentive to open earlier.

Very well said, that's how I feel. I don't want to take anything away from SR though. I think it's AWESOME that they're opening for Halloween, even if just for a day.

In my mind there's still a race on to see who opens for regular operations first.

I agree with Danny and other like minds but now SR gets to take "first to open" and stretch it marketingwise as far as it can take them. Several other resorts could have done the same thing but they didn't. I guess it depends on your perspective.

I get the impression at least that they fully intend on being open as temps allow. And starting tonight, they should be able to blow pretty much every night. I'm not so sure they won't be opening for more then just today.

But I suppose even if they don't, if they can open Nov 9th with a crapolla of terrain, just as good.
