They must have had bad conditions when I went because I remember leaving halfway through the day which I never do. I just looked at the trail map again and it looks like it does have some challenging terrain, I'll hit you up next time I'm on the east coast
The west side and Lower k22 can be a challenge....

Sunday Skiing

Are any of you planning on skiing Sunday?

Looking to hit the slopes for the 1st time.

I am hoping we can get some good snowmaking tonight and tomorrow.

Do you think rock skis will be needed Sunday and any chance Wayout or the Cliff might be open?

Thanks!

I don't think you'll need rock skis unless you're planning on rope ducking onto something not open yet.

They're starting snowmaking tonight on Wayout, so I'd figure that's a good chance. Cliff is not scheduled, which means the earliest they're going to be starting is tomorrow, and unless they put extra guns on it, I don't think <24 hours is enough to open it, so I'd figure no.

Based on what I see on schedule for tonight, my guess for Sunday would be: HBK (Figure they'll probably spin the guns around on Broadway/7th and make it full width), Minya + ESD to Lower Crossover, Ike, Wayout, Belt, lower part of Hunter One, and the terrain park/Mossy Brook.

I'd say maybe one wild-card will get open, perhaps Upper Crossover, that's usually a fairly high priority, and it's short.

So it's location. Gotcha.

I've only been there once (coincidentally the only time I went on an AZ outing) The summit quad was broken so that might have ruined the experience a little. I just didn't find it all that challenging.

Now I remember you!

There was not a ton open that day, certainly none of Hunter's expert terrain.

Worth another day, take my word for it.

We have a special holiday treat for our Big Lift Card holders. Tickets for December 24th and December 25th will be set at $60. Normally Big Lift Card holders would get 25% off this lift ticket price, but all these snowmaking temperatures have us feeling pretty jolly so we are going to extend your 50% discount to these days. $30 lift tickets on the 24th and 25th for Big Lift Card holders!
The world didn't end, snowmaking has resumed (and temps are looking great for continued snowmaking into next week). Things are looking good.
Spread the joy!

Anything for value pass holders? UI'd like to get out Monday or Wednesday.
Also... how's the snow down there? I just drove home in a white mess and hope they're getting it...

I think I remember meeting you as well, and Marc (Where has he gone anyways, haven't heard from him). FYI, my handle used to be llamborghinii but I asked Greg to change it a couple of years back.

If I am in the area, I will definitely give it another shot

Yesterday was really good (all things considered). They were blowing snow at the base, lower portion of Cliff (to link the trail to the rest of the mountain), and at the top to link the West side lift.

Don't know why they are not making snow today. Humidity is high I guess, but Windham is blowing. They did start blowing, Milky Way, Upper 42 last night.

$ would be my guess, hopefully all if the local hills get enough snow from this storm to open everything up.:)

Very cold nights in the forecast for the next week. No need to blow in marginal temps when there's plenty of cold. They got all the key, high traffic runs open. Now it's time for the double diamonds and less busy trails, like Gun Hill Road, Clairs, ets. But they could easily have everything they want to open by the weekend when they NYE crowds show up without having to blow during the day.

As for why Windham is blowing, look how much they need to open, the whole East Peak is still closed and the crowds are here/coming.
