I'm a big fan of night skiing/riding. Gives the wife and I a chance to get out there for a couple hours during the week after work and dinner.

Bump skiing at night is great for those of us with aging eyes.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but this is a related question: Did Mad River Glen ever offer Night Skiing? I swear I remember seeing a collage poster with a timeline showing a picture of night skiing there off the double chair. I seem to remember seeing some old rusted lights in the area of Slalom Hill back in the 90s.
I haven't been able to find anything else about this, so maybe it was a dream

When you have time, I hope you'll add more to the entry's opening paragraphs re. the history and impact of night skiing. For instance, night skiing was probably independently "invented" several times. I have a brochure that shows that Bousquet Ski Grounds (the area's name back then) in Pittsfield MA had night skiing in 1940, and night skiing may have occurred there even before that. Your Wikipedia page mentions Summit West in WA, which Webb Moffett acquired in 1942, according to another Wiki page.

Night skiing arrived well before snowmaking. It made it possible to ski during weekday evenings instead of confining skiing to weekends. Often a Monday or Tuesday snowfall would disappear by Saturday morning, relegating so many would-be skiers to shoveling only rather than shoveling and then skiing. I also think of the impact of the availability of night skiing on popularizing the sport through school clubs and racing teams.

Yeah, I mean, the Poconos IS night skiing. The only thing PA skiing does better than the rest of the ski world.

If anyone's inclined, you can add the New Jersey ski areas (Campgaw Mountain & Mountain Creek).

And I think Cochrans in Vermont might have Friday night skiing?

BenedictGomez's point about the Poconos is significant. The farther south, the more essential night skiing is to an area's operations. Take a look at ski areas in PA, MD, WV, VA and NC. Virtually ALL of them offer night skiing. By comparison, what is the extent of night skiing in ME, VT and NH? Minimal, and primarily near urban areas (e.g., Bolton Valley VT). Quebec is an interesting case b/c night skiing appears to be much more extensive there than in northern NY, VT, NH or Maine.

First Night Skiing ?

Los, I'm glad you're preparing this Wikipedia page on night skiing. Thanks for your efforts so far.

I just checked through my old brochures and can help you push back night skiing another four years. The earliest Bousquet brochure I have is dated 1936. It includes the notation "floodlighted area" on Russell Slope, so night skiing dates back until at least the 1936-37 ski season.

But Quebec is once again near major urban areas.

Or Quebec has major urban areas?

To that point Bromont is not far from Montreal, Orford not far from Sherbrooke.

NH and VT really do not have major metropolitan areas - yet NH has quite a few night skiing venues not far from Manchester and Concord but are not major metropolitan areas.

Nice list. Just to clarify; Jack Frost and Big Boulder are two different ski areas several miles apart but marketed as one. Big Boulder has night skiing. Jack Frost is the only ski area in PA that does not have night skiing.
