It used to be I'd be excited about September..

Cause I knew Killington would be open in October - September marked the last month of no skiing...

Now September is just another month... Not nearly as cool... But still a nice time of year..

It's like turning 14. or 19. Or 23. Just kind of useless, except it's on the way to 16, 21, 25, or November.

Wow that is early. I like hiking this time of year to extend the foliage season

I could be just from the dry summer...

But it's cool none the less...

What happens at 25? 16 is a license, 18 is legal adult, 21 is drinking. But 25 - not an age I particularly am looking forward to.

At 25 your parents officially kick you out of their "carhole"... :)

25= 1/4 of a century, plus it's sort of an "adult" age- more credibility, you can rent a car, etc. After 25, it's all 10-year milestones, too.

Wouldn't the colors come in your neck of the woods around the same time they come to the Catskills?

Kinda different climates...

Nashua has nothing... well no change in color. I have not been up north for a couple of weeks.
As I remember nothing until mid to late Sept. usually. I hike to get the colors early.
I think Upstate/ Catskills does get it a little earlier. My guess is the Oct 8th weekend will be peak in the White's.

I think your climate is more affected by the coast..
We're further inland so we're less coastal..

I'm seeing color changes all over Northwest CT as well. Mostly the maples and it probably is accelerated due to the lack of rain in August.

I really never thought about the coastal aspect. It's all relevant.
I think of myself as away from the coast.
Compared to you I'm not. I'm in the southern most White's also. North or the Notch is always a little ahead of us.

There is color change here on Long Island as well, though it is only about 1-2% of the trees. My area has some maples that are starting to change due to drought stress.

I hope to see some foliage this weekend near Belleayre. 8)

They say that your car insurance rates are supposed to go down once you hit 25, we didn't notice much of a difference though..
