So what is everyone going to do this upcoming season for passes?

We have bought the Threedom Pass the last two seasons but don't like the fact that they increased the prices and added to the blackout dates, etc (I know the blackout dates are only at Loon, but we hardly ever skied Waterville or Cranmore). Plus we wouldn't mind a change of scenery.

So, now I think of instead of buying a season pass to somewhere, maybe just getting a credit card with 0% on purchases for 12 months (Chase Freedom for example) and using that to buy tickets throughout the season and then paying it off before the 12 months is up. My theory is that even though we will not be getting the benefit of saving money the more we ski with a seasons pass, at least we can ski whever we want and spread the cost of it over 12 months.

So, is it worth the extra cost to be able to ski wherever (and spread the payments out), or better to buy a pass somewhere even though it seems like everybody jacked their prices up for the upcoming season? If you have bought (or going to buy) passes for the upcoming season, where and why???

No passes for the family this year. Our son will be in the 7 - 8 month range when ski season hits and we have no clue how often we will get out. It looks like wifey and I will do a Savings Card from Ski Sundown and a Big Lift Card from Hunter.

I'll get my Hunter pass as usual, based strictly on geography.

The cost is the same as last season; last season they raised the price $50 (from $699 to $749, unlimited skiing whenever), but that was the first pass price increase in more than 10 years.

Sno Mtn Tuesday night pass or a full season pass not sure yet need to see the rates. I have no idea about a pass up north. Mount Snow doesn't look that bad. I might just get hunter's big lift card and Ski anywhere I want in VT, NY, and NH. I am always looking for some good deals so if anyone has any please let me know. I am done with killington!

Went with a Killington midweek for this year, I'll leave next year if they don't get things in shape. Also, I'll be getting a Hunter Big Lift Card again.

You don't mind driving, eh Joey?

I wish I had that kind of motivation...that would be my choice too.

i ski at pico and killington and jay peak too. i just like madriverglen. i am a member of the coop there. i own a share. its pretty cool because a big company can never own us and mess us up like what happened to other ski places in vermont and maine. we will never let a big company run the place. thats why we own it as skiers and not as ceos and cfos and guys like that. the trails and trees at mad river are realy fun. no snowboards too.

Just a Wachusett silver pass this year and then hit up a few other mountains as opportunities present themselves.

don't take offense. the mrg/snowboard debate has been discussed at nauseum. welcome!

ps - people around here tend to love mrg as well.

Mentioning snowboards and MRG is like lighting a match near gasoline...that's a never ending debate outside the friendly confines of MRG. Easy to get going, better left alone in mixed skier/snowboarder company.

If I were a boarder only I'd be pissed I couldn't slide there.

Although I will always defend the pot stirrer. I wear that mantle with pride.

I'm doing the same thing I did last year- nothing.

BTW, snowboards suck and MRG rocks.
Now, where are my matches?

ok. thank you. now i get it. snowboards can go to sugarbush next door. i like it there too. i have a lot of friends who snowboard. there is nothing wrong with it. ive tried it too a few times but i like to ski better. i wasnt very good at the snowboard.

mad river glen just wants to keep the mountain preserved for skiers. we dont have the snowmaking or grooming that the other resorts have so snowboards would hurt our conditions in a bad snow year. i have no problems with the snowboarders. they are cool people too. im sorry if i upset you or anyone here.

i wont say it again about snowboads. sorry.
