So what is everyone going to do this upcoming season for passes?

Speak your peace...I was just having some fun.

Do you have a place in the MRV?

no. rutland county. that way i can go to mad river and pico and killington and still be close to the ski house. i like killington a lot too but i dont like what ive been hearing about the new bosses and what they want to do or may do. that is why mad river is such a great place. the skiers are actually the people that run the resort. not by a company but by us skiers. it says alot about preserving the resort and not letting the money greeding companies take our mountain away from us and build big ugly hotels that ruin the landscape and dont really care about the skiers as long as they get to make all their money. that is why mad river glen is so cool a place. its just my opinion but what about the people at killington that are not happy about the decisions of the new bosses. its just not right to let a big company that doesn't know about skiing but they run the resort anyway.

i dont mean to upset anyone here. i just like mad river glen.

We have bought the Threedom Pass the last two seasons but don't like the fact that they increased the prices and added to the blackout dates, etc (I know the blackout dates are only at Loon, but we hardly ever skied Waterville or Cranmore). Plus we wouldn't mind a change of scenery.

So, now I think of instead of buying a season pass to somewhere, maybe just getting a credit card with 0% on purchases for 12 months (Chase Freedom for example) and using that to buy tickets throughout the season and then paying it off before the 12 months is up. My theory is that even though we will not be getting the benefit of saving money the more we ski with a seasons pass, at least we can ski whever we want and spread the cost of it over 12 months.

So, is it worth the extra cost to be able to ski wherever (and spread the payments out), or better to buy a pass somewhere even though it seems like everybody jacked their prices up for the upcoming season? If you have bought (or going to buy) passes for the upcoming season, where and why???

Snowbird, and Whiteface, but, judging from your past pass selections, I don't think you're going to like the commutes to those places.

To answer your main question with a question, why don't you find the best pass deal for your new scenery situation, pay for it with the 0% card, and get the best of both worlds in the savings department?

I can't imagine not taking advantage of the value of a season's pass deal unless, of course, you don't see using it enough in the new location to make it pay for itself.

I get your theory on checking out a bunch of new spots though, so another option is to get value cards/multi-packs/whatever for a few different places, and check them out while still getting a decent price break.

But good luck with this whichever way you go!

You are hardly going to upset any of us. MRG rules. Welcome, btw.

I'll be on a pass at Sundown; hopefully land one for Hunter again. Other than that I'll be hitting a number of other places.

:-DTerry nice to see you around. Still the best Avatar by far.;-) I think I may buy my passes this weekend. I was thinking of waiting, but my theory of I could be unemployed living in a shoe scares me so I need to have my passes.:-D

Ditto what BobR said. You will be missed around these parts, snoseek. It was an honor to ski with you.

As for passes, I'm definitely in for a Maine Pass but still debating whether to get the silver or gold. I have to plan out my weekends properly because of the blackouts on the silver.
