I hope for your sake that Stratton can pull it off.

Yeah, I'm really itchin' to ski and if I can't get out Friday it may be a couple more weeks until the local places open. I can't do any long day trips this month after Friday because of the wife's schedule and family stuff.

I hear Killington is planning on opening on Wednesday, Sugarbush and Hunter this weekend. How about some of the other majors players, Snow, Stowe, Loon, Jay, Whiteface, Okemo, Stratton, etc..???

Tonight should be decent for snowmaking over @Loaf and tomorrow morning looks pretty good for my day #1. Weekend temps over there look pretty good...think it all depends on how much they can keep through the infamous looking Thursday.
Won't forget camera...wouldn't wanna miss getting pics of Tote Rd's frontface....LOL

I'm standing by my position that "open" is just a marketing term at this point. If they can ski it, they get lucky. I sure hope they can, we all win. Right now, the whole point is to generate PR which will they hope will generate more demand for reservations for the holiday period.
It's interesting that certain resorts say that season pass sales are ahead of last year (for all our sakes I hope so.) However the more interesting but elusive stat would be where lodging bookings are compared to last year.

No problems up here....for Wednesday AM over @the Loaf....
..HA!, well so I thought....got called & drawn into midlife US foreign policy discussion between so-called friends:lol: at 12:30am...:uzi: Just a barrel of laughs...extending for another hour:eek: ,thus the act of pulling onesself out of bed with ~3hrs sleep to drive ~75+mi was a little too much this morning.... Will definitely get outside this weekend...somewhere....

I'm not sure what you mean. Open is open, if they have a lift running and enough snow to ski on then they're open. Often the initial offering is intended for advanced skiers only and is noted as such. Of course they're trying to generate good PR, that's what they always try to do. I guess I just don't understand your position??

I just got an email from Loon.

They're shooting for Saturday.

Good luck to them.

I hope they can do it.

The weather really took a big turn for the worse today, at least down here. The last 2 mornings it was 27F when I left the house, this morning was 58F! I'm not surprised to see areas pushing their start dates to Sunday, or later. :(

It'll be great to see which ares can push through this crappy weather and open this weekend anyway, especially if they can pull Saturday off. :fangun:

We will likely be open at Sugarbush this Saturday, but I think it will be a marginal product.

I would be delighted to see anyone here helping with human grooming, but I think you will find conditions considerably better next weekend. The two week forecast finally looks good!

Now there's an honest report, thanks! I applaud you guys for overcoming this crappy weather to open anyway. If I were closer I'd definitely be there to ski. :fangun:
