i doubt it would be a record early closing, but certainly very early. i think mansfield had under 100 inches a year or two, so there certainly must have been earlier closings than this for mrg. it ain't over yet though... the web site also says if they get enough natural snow this week, they will open. tips crossed!

Now this looks good. Oh, Alta is closing April 2, I'll be there March 26,27,the Bird the 28th. Closing Alta is a party. A lot of drinking at the top of High Rustler...then you have to ski down. I skip the drinking part, it's pretty steep.

hopefully whatever falls will be a little wet in makeup. Anything too light is falling on either bare ground or pure ice and is just gonna blow away. Yeah into the trees, great there's no base there either, with the exception of the northern greens i would imagine. It's probably too much to ask but a heavy wet snow is what we really need.

Much of southern New England is 1-2' ahead of normal for snowfall this year. They have a point. We've had 4 major snowstorms down here.

Thanks for the reminder...not that it's all that comforting for areas further north...:-?

I just saw this article on AccuWeather.com:

http://headlines.accuweather.com/news-story.asp?partner=accuweather&myadc=0&traveler=0&article=2

One of the quotes was " New England has had their fair share of snowstorms this winter season; many locations are near to above normal for average snowfall accumulations. This is much to the delight of snow lovers."

We live near the South coast of RI and have had several pretty good snows. None of it has lasted more than a few days. But it seems most of the storms have tracked south and have largely missed the ski areas. I kind of keep an eye on the weather at Southern NH places and I'd have to think the total snowfall totals at places like Sunapee and Crotched are way below average. Certainly not a weather pattern than would delight snow lovers.

Man, what was Accuweather smoking? We are WAY below normal here in N-New England.
Oh wait, they are funded by people who say that there is no global warming, so we need to only present evidence that supports that view

these accuweather people just want to give everyone in the major cities the go ahead for their St Patrick;s parades. I guess if I was into celebrating it, it would be real important to me to know that snow won;t be inconveniencing my party plans. But I am not.....

i figured it out, the evil scientist responsible for the force field that is keeping the snows away from the mountains is......ACCUWEATHER!
