First planned ski outing?

Has anyone planned their first outing this season? I hope to hit Killington on or near opening day.

Thats about the extent of my planning for the first outing. I hope to be there around opening day too. Looks like it'll have to be a weekend though, I don't have many days off left until 2006...

What are opening day or very early season (e.g. first week) conditions like, i.e. what trails? Is it usually just Hellgate and 7th or do they ever open K27 or Racer's that early?

Usually just Hellgate>Broadway(7th)>Kennedy... Or as we say at Hunter "HBK"..
They'll also try and open the beginner area...

My first day is usually the first 6+inch dump. Jay is normally the first resort in New England to open 100% of thier terrain, although it stillcan be a bit brushy in some glades in early-mid december.
So I dont pick a day and plan on going just cuz it's november 1. I just cross my fingers and hope a good dump happens early.

An opening might be tough but a Hunter trip will be in the works.

My first outing will be the first weekend that Killington is open. The second will probably be the weekend that Hunter opens. If by chance they open on the same weekend, I'll probably end up at Hunter.

I'll be at kmart if not their opening day, def. the first open weekend.

I have eight vaca days to use up before the end of the year... and I lose em if I don't since none can carry over from my first year here. Shucks. That's going to be such a hassle taking all those early-mid December days off and skiing my brains out.
