My first day is usually the first 6+inch dump. Jay is normally the first resort in New England to open 100% of thier terrain, although it stillcan be a bit brushy in some glades in early-mid december.
So I dont pick a day and plan on going just cuz it's november 1. I just cross my fingers and hope a good dump happens early.

I hope Jay's glades are "cleaner" than last year. Even at the end of the season after a good snowfall you could still see a significant amount of brush coming through...they need to get in there with a weedwacker or something...

Opening day, Sunday River, November 11th. Going to be there for the Fall festival to do some work with the marketing department for the upcoming season, anyone going to be up for that weekend?

Hopefully Killington on November 14th. If not, whenever Wachusett opens I guess.

I think I'm just going to Killington that weekend. I wanted to go to Killington on Friday and Sunday River Sat and Sunday. The price of gas will limit my my bouncing around a bit.

If it gets cold early enough I'd like to get to Crotched around Thanksgiving weekend.

Other places that open earlier will be either too far away or too crowded for me...

I'll ammend my declaration a little and say that if for some reason we get some freak dump down here in So. NE before any resorts are open I'll go out with my skis onto the giant hill behind my house, build a kicker, and work on landing a 3...

But the chances of that happening are slim to none.

I hope to make it to opening day at Killington this year. The last two years my hubby got to go while I stayed home and took care of the kids. This year he promised that I could go and he would stay home and take care of them. Unfortunately, due to my son's football schedule and my daughter's cheerleading schedule we may miss the opening weekend.

1st Ski trip?

well, I just got back from a week at Portillo;

do you suppose that counts as my last trip of 04-05, or my first trip of 05-06???

heh heh

and it was some of the BEST skiing I have EVER had, and absolutely the best vacation.

so my next "1st trip" may be an early day at the K; as Sugarbush's Nov 19 opening is WAY to far away!

To each his own. So far, raising my daughter has been the most fulfilling thing I've ever done in my life and we have another one on the way. I really look forward to the years I can teach them to ski, go hiking with them, etc. Sure, you gotta pay some dues as they are babies/toddlers, but I'm sure it'll all be worth it. Not many of us are going to leave a legacy behind when we leave this world. For me, my kids will be the closest thing to one.

trip report- Portillo

I'll put up a link to pics next week......

never been to SA before and with 40 ft of snow this season (vs their average of 20ft) it was a great year to take the plunge. not cheap, but worth EVERY PESO!

and, it was great to watch the funny looks from folks while checking my skis in the Providence Airport!

If I can figure out how to pay for it, it may become an annual event!

I can't get a summer ski vacation in. The three plus weeks I take off in the winter kind of push it. Can't afford a vacation like that either. My family likes doing non winter vacations at nice summer places. I call them every night to tell them I miss them.

To each his own is very true. I'm always defensive when it comes to kids because for some reason most people don't think "to each his own on" that subject. And EVERYONE (that have kids) makes snyde comments about how I life followed with "haha, just wait till you have kids."

When I tell them I don't want any they then look at me like I have 3 heads. Eventually followed by.... "Oh, well you say that now..."

Same thing with marriage.... I only hear guys complain about it, then they look down at me "You'll see when you get married."

Thanks Chico, but no I won't. And all your bitching helps too...

[/end rant]

You may now return to your regularly scheduled thread...

From what I've been hearing they've been having a fantastic year down there. I'm very jealous! Can't want to see the pics...
