Unfortunately for me, its looking like it may be over. I may try for 1 or 2 more days, but the daughter is playing on not 1 but 2 lacrosse teams this spring, the son working and playing lax for his high school and an upcoming trip to puerto rico for 2 days and then a 7 day cruise, it looks like it just may well be over :-( How could my husband want to cruise in the sun and heat when there is still snow to be had?!?!?

Sadly, my season might be over. :(

I sprained my wrist a couple of days before the AZ gathering, skied through it, but it's been hurting ever since. I thought I'd take a couple of days off, and that is now a week and it hurts as much as ever. Crap. Thank god this didn't happen in December.

I'm having second thoughts already. The wrist has been feeling better this afternoon than since I injured it, so I'm going to see how it's going and maybe try to go up on Sunday if it keeps improving.
At least you're in an area where you can easily change your mind. ;)

I'm done now...with kids' soccer starting up and vacation planned for the 3rd week of April, I won't have the time to head out.

Need to look forward...this will be a good time of the year to get some projects and clean-up done around the house and do the "required" yard work before summer hiking season starts. :)

Holding out hope for at least one more "hookey" day, but with the weather its not looking very likely.

MUD SEASON NEARS

Pulled into the Magic parking lot and it was a frozen tundra. When I walked back at 5pm, it was a veritable mud-bowl. I know what that means: mud season is near....

Yesterday was my 30th day of the season and we have skiing scheduled from April 13-18th at Sunday River/Sugarloaf and at Sugarloaf on May 3-4th. Some more days may happen but they are not planned at the moment.

I hope I'm not done, but then I wasn't planning on the rain we're having today / tomorrow.

I'd like to get to Okemo or WV for April Fools day, but I don't ski in the rain.

I'd like to get in two more days at Hunter, but rain may wipe them out.

I'd like to get to Whiteface on Wednesday; but it's supposed to be windy there, and I expect they'll close the lifts because of the wind. Every time I planed on hitting Iceface this winter something came like that happened.
So, depending on weather, I may have skied my last day and not even know it... bummer.

Posting this from the Brattleboro rest stop so Hell No. At least three days planned this week, assuming that NCP in front of me is snow on the hills. And there's a new set of skis being delivered Thursday, so those'll need to be checked out too.

If it all works out, we're looking at 65-70 days this season. Hoo hah!

I'm figuring 3 more days, once per weekend to Killington until the season ends. Would like to do more, but I've got self-diagnosed minor stress fractures in both legs. I'm basically at the point where I ski 5-6 hours, heal for a week, wash, rinse, repeat. Tried both Saturday and Sunday last weekend, and got 5 runs in on Sunday before I decided it was a really bad idea to take those 5 runs; possibly put this next weekend in jeopardy, definitely killed all hopes of going to Sugarbush tomorrow. Definitely tops my list of nagging injuries that I'm waiting for summer to heal.

And to not be insensitive to the truly injured among us, yes, I'm happy that its only a fairly minor injury. I killed my lacrosse season (and the March skiing season) in my Junior year of HS with a broken collarbone 3 days before the practice started, so I can feel your pain.

Ski Season Ending?

Alta is closing on 4/13 and will re-open for 4/1 - 4/20. That leaves me with a possibility of 10 more days there. After that I have some travel to the east coast scheduled. Realistically, I will likely get in around 5-6 additional days. That will bring me to 63 or 64 days for the season. Not bad.

Barring a miracle (WaWa or Crotched opening again next weekend, which is very unlikely to happen), I am done. I am sad, but I just can't afford to make the drive north to any of the mountains still open (with gas prices the way they are, and lift ticket prices the way they are, there's just no way).

Made my last turns this morning at WaWa before heading to work. Decent conditions for this time of year. 6 quick runs. I ended on a low note with a pretty solid yardsale when my edge got caught in a pile of mush near the bottom of Look Mom (which was open because they'd pulled the terrain park out) on my last run.

Anyway, my vital stats:

Times out: 31
Mountains Skied: 7
Runs: 177

Not bad. Twice as much skiing and 5 new mountains this season than last season. Very please with how it turned out.
