blacknblue- I mean this in the kindest possible way- You suck. And I think I speak for all of us in the NE facing boatloads of areas closing because it's raining.

I'll second that!! ;)
I suppose I deserve that. 8) Still, what I would give to be able to watch the Sox every night...

I fear it is. We were going to try to get out this weekend but with the weather situation as it is that's not in the cards. If conditions seem decent next weekend perhaps we'll give it a shot but I'm not optimistic anything within day trip distance will be in decent shape.

It's OVER.
Hate to say it, but the recent soaker has eaten into rather thin cover on natural snow trails. There wasn't much discussion about that but it's true. Natural snow really didn't come this until mid February.

The upcoming wall of water that's forecasted for this weekend will do further damage. Too bad, skiing corned up moguls in is my absolute favorite (next to powder, of course) alpine activity. I was planning to hit Mad River/Sugarbush this weekend, but I just hate skiing in the rain.

Besides, I'm going to St. John soon and when I come back, our own waters will be warm enough for bodyboarding and surfing in a 4 mil wet suit, of course.

Bummer - first we were going to Stratton (yuck) to ski with my father-in-law, and then we were going to go to Waterville Valley to try to get some better snow, but with 2-5 inches of rain expected there's just no way. Skis are in the garage until November.

But - my golf clubs are in the trunk of my car for the forseeable future!!

Remember to check out www.Northeastgolf.net - !!!

Every ski area close to home that was planning on being opened this weekend is now closed for the season. Sundown and Mohawk are now closed as is Hidden Valley and shawnee and Mountain Creek.

Not a drop of rain has fallen yet and everyone is closing based on a forecast, it would be funny if it did not rain at all.

I am looking to go up to Killington next weekend.

done? hello! the lifts are still turning! let alone all the hiking and skinning that can be done when the lifts close...

Denial! That's all I can say. I suppose it depends on one's definition of quality ski experience.

If sliding on a dirty patch of wet, melting mush and jumping over exposed rock is your idea of quality skiing, fine.

For my taste, I don't even bother getting to the slopes unless they have decent natural snow cover.
It's all in qulity of experience for me.

Doing Tuckerman's, sure, that's a prime spring experience. Hitting A-basin or some of the late spring skiing in the Sierras, great stuff. But trying to get something going on rain washed remnants of man made slick and call it skiing? Just don't see it.

Why bother trying to ski crap and hold on to the illusion of fun when there is a whole bunch of other great outdoor activities that offer much higher level of satisfaction offered by spring?

Would love to be out. But the rest of my life keeps getting in the way. Sometimes ya gotta do what needs to be done to save family, marriage and pay all those bills from ski season!

looks like this weekend is a wash out so I will do some of my honey do stuff that I have been neglecting. But Ragae fest next weekend, and the river will stay open to May 1st- weather permitting so definately not done yet.
