Nice pics of the preexisting Sultan's Area.May 12th
Sure, there's no snow below, but this terrain is still holding snow higher-up, and this isn't the highest skiable elevation for the new terrain.

Correct.Okay, if that's part of Bald Mountain, then the lower elevation terrain in my photo to the left definitely isn't, and as you can see there's still a ton of snow up there, and without the benefit of any snowmaking, in May.
The new terrain I mentioned not viewable in my photo is off a 9,350 foot peak, almost as tall as Bald Mountain and another one at just above 9000 feet. Granted I believe the primary exposure will be southwest'ish, and I think I can see both of those peaks from my backyard. With binoculars, what looks like a road is now going to the top of the bigger one, and if I'm correct on the peaks I'm looking at, there's currently snow near & at the top, but no snow below (of course, it is May 14th) the top.

The public comments in anticipation of the Snow Park public financing discussion overwhelmingly expressed strong opposition to the proposed Community Redevelopment Area (CRA), particularly criticizing the use of public tax dollars to subsidize a private equity-backed project. So much so that Deer Valley withdrew the agenda item from discussion just over 24 hours before the meeting. Many comments argue that Alterra Mountain Company, owned by KSL Capital Partners, has ample financial resources to fund the development independently and should not redirect tax revenues away from essential public services such as schools, fire protection, and infrastructure.
The solution is to have the majority of residents who don't like the spending/investment vote out the elected officials who approved it.This is problematic IMHO.
13%??? Holy shit! The solution is to have the majority of residents who don't like the spending/investment vote out the elected officials who approved it.
If it makes you feel any better NYC residents pay around 13% in state/city income taxes plus sky high real estate taxes and the city still faces a budget deficit.
Except when everything is gerrymandered. The solution is to have the majority of residents who don't like the spending/investment vote out the elected officials who approved it.

Don't talk to me about gerrymandering, New York politicians are the kings/queens of gerrymandering!Except when everything is gerrymandered.
I'll be there in February to check out the new expansion. Looking forward to it!
I know I was visiting in NY for the week and wished I brought my skisI feel like getting on a plane and landing in Burlington..
Hotels will only add to the overcrowding. We need to increase the # of ski areas and acreage available to lessen the overcrowding on the ski trails here in UT. So I like the Mayflower terrain expansion, but more hotels are the last thing Utah needs.![]()
Public funds subsidizing parking lots, gondolas and hotels at Utah ski resorts - TownLift, Park City News
MIDA Executive Director Paul Morris said a new $390M bond will support private investment in an 'accelerated fashion' and subsidize resort infrastructure projects like roads, lifts, gondolas and workforce housing at Deer Valley's East Village.townlift.com
This might be the most egregious case yet. It's intellectually insulting to claim this was done as a "benefit" for our men and women in uniform. FYI, the hotel opened last week, the cheapest room is $800 a night. And the hotel has a SCIF in it. Probably one of only a few non-DC hotels in all of America with a SCIF. That multi-million dollar expense was totally for the random G.I. Joe & G.I. Jane Privates who'll be staying there (few though they'll be).Bastards spending public funds on skiing! Oh wait, I'm OK with that.
